Our Description

This model is a desktop replacement.  The unit with the CDROM and floppy drive built in weighs about 8 lbs.  Making it heavier than your average laptops.  But then this is no average laptop and you are not using this laptop in average conditions.  Yes, this laptop works great on the desk and out in the field. 

Some applications in which we have seen these units working are in Police cruisers, Mechanics using to hook to cars and trucks.  Forklift field service technicians and more.

I have seen and used both the semi-rugged and rugged models of the Panasonic Toughbook series of laptops.  In most normal conditions there is no need to have a rugged version of these laptops.  Only the harshest environments require such rugged laptops like the CF-27, CF-28 or CF-29.  Granted these rugged models are very nice and extremely cool.  When you look at your application and budget you might find that the CF-48 will hold up and do the job you need done.
